Environment

From the start our aim has been to do things in a respectful and responsible way, to make beautiful cards in the UK. That's the 'Dove' bit of what we do. We don't understand why you would do anything else. Business is an art, so do it beautifully.

All our board and paper sources are either FSC certified or recycled. We were the first card publisher anywhere to produce cards on FSC material (SA-COC-001654X).

Where possible our sources are local. 70% of our main board is UK sourced, the rest from Sweden. Our mill is in Cumbria and our cards are printed in the UK, always have been, always will be.

Our cards are packed either semi-mechanically or by properly employed people in good working environments. We don't use homeworkers.

Our inks are vegetable based, so no solvents and we don't use UV varnishes.

We use recycled plastic for acetate boxes and are looking for a compostable plastic for our cello bags. Currently these are made to be recycled.

Each year we look to work with our suppliers to improve, be that through better processes or better materials. It's not always easy or satisfactory, and it means we're not the cheapest publisher around, but we hope in the long run it makes us a more imaginative company, creates better products, opens opportunities for our customers and generally does a bit less damage to our planet.
